The Therapeutic Application of Lotion

Everflowing Classes in San Francisco This is a 4 hour class is facilitated by Irene Smith and the following topics for working with fragile clients will be presented: practitioner body mechanics; using pillows and other props to for ease and comfort for the client; and the therapeutic application of lotion with Everflowing stroking technique. Maximum enrollment is 4. See the Schedule Page. This class is appropriate for volunteers, and professional & non-professional health care providers. Nursing CEU’s provided.

Touching Moments

This day includes lecture: interactive exercises in Touch Awareness, positioning strategies in a be and a therapeutic model for applying lotion to the skin. Participants will practice positioning and the therapeutic applicaition of lotion with each other. Written materials will be provided via e-mail. This 1-day class includes: "Touch Awareness in Caregiving" and "The Theraputic Application of Lotion" in a 1-day format. For professional and family healthcare providers. CEUs are available. An Introduction to Massage in Hospice Care

FOR: Professional bodyworkers, and health care providers with bodywork experience 

This introductory training program is designed to provide techniques, skills and personal practices for adapting touch and massage to specialized settings for clients who are dying. These skills and practices will help the practitioner more fully understand hospice care, network as part of a team, gather information for treatment assessment, achieve physical comfort at the bedside and process the emotional impact of the work. This class will also provide the practitioner with a physical approach to clients in pain that will enhance other care modalities. Approach skills learned in this program may be incorporated into daily nursing care as well as be structured into most bodywork modalities. This course offers 13 CE hours for Massage Therapists.

Positioning In A Bed and Massage Technique

Content and structure; Irene Smith will share her Massage Modification Model for providing massage in end of life care with Q and A followed by a demonstration of client positioning for clients in beds and Everflowing stroking and holding techniques for client comfort and relaxation.
